BBB has Been Accused of Payed Ratings
People have accused the Better Business Bureau, or BBB, of basing their ratings on a member and non-member basis. In other words, businesses that are not paying members of the BBB tend to have lower ratings than those of the companies that are paying members of the Better Business Bureau.
ABC News covered this story extensively and even interviewed the National President of the BBB, Steve Cox, about their rating system. After 45 minutes in to the interview, Steve Cox got agitated and abruptly removed his microphone claiming that his one hour interview was expired.
